What is Windows Mango ?

Recently, there has been lots of talks in  published media about Windows Mango & many of my friends have this very first question – “What is Mango ?” . My first answer to them usually is “Microsoft’s answer to Apple ”…..Just Kidding… Many of them also have a misconception that it’s  a new Mobile Phone launched by Microsoft, which is again not completely true. So, question comes back, if it’s not Phone then what is it  ? And my short & simple answer to that is -

“It’s the codename of the next majors oftware update to “Windows Mobile” which is the mobile operating system by Microsoft. It is actually version 7.5 of the Windows Mobile OS”.

So, you may ask now what’s new in “Windows Mango” ?  There are almost 500 new software features added into this new version of Windows OS which positions it well to extend its market share in the Smart Phones market.

I was one of the lucky ones to get access to beta release of  Mango & I must admit that I simply love the new features. I will write series of blogs to discuss about those pretty soon.
